On December 1, at approximately 8 a.m., deputies from the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office responded to a residence on Larson Heights Road near Blue Lake. The operation was part of an investigation targeting Curtis Lawson, a 30-year-old resident of Blue Lake, who had an outstanding felony warrant and was on active parole for felony assault.

Upon arrival, deputies announced their presence at the front door. Lawson attempted to flee through the back door toward a wooded area. However, deputies were already positioned in that area and intercepted him. Despite being ordered to stop, Lawson resisted arrest and engaged physically with the officers. He was eventually subdued and handcuffed.

A subsequent search of the garage space used by Lawson revealed his identification alongside drug paraphernalia, including a meth pipe and 4.7 grams of methamphetamine.

Lawson was taken into custody at the Humboldt County Correctional Facility under charges related to his parole violation warrant as well as new charges: obstructing or resisting a public officer (PC 148(a)(1)), possession of a controlled substance (HS 11377(a)), possession of controlled substance paraphernalia (HS 11364(a)), and parole revocation (PC 3000.08(f)).

The Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office encourages anyone with information about this case or related criminal activities to contact them at (707) 445-7251 or via their Crime Tip line at (707) 268-2539.
