Del Norte County Schools: Del Norte High School welcomed most students in 2022-23 school year

Del Norte High School had the highest enrollment among Del Norte County schools, welcoming 1,006 students during the 2022-23 school year, according to the California Department of Education.

Of all the students welcomed in the 2022-23 school year, 51.5% of them were boys, 48.2% were girls, and 0.3% identified themselves as non-binary or did not specify their gender.

The most represented ethnicity among Del Norte High School students was white, accounting for 49.2% of the student population.

Among the 14 schools in Del Norte County, Crescent Elk Middle School ranked second in enrollment numbers with 491 students, while Redwood Elementary School welcomed 477 students and ranked third in the 2022-23 school year.

Del Norte High School is part of Del Norte County Unified School District, which roughly covers schools within Del Norte County and has a main office in Crescent City.

In the previous school year, Del Norte High School also had the highest number of students among Del Norte County schools.

In the last decade, enrollment in California elementary and secondary schools rose by at least 5%, while high school enrollment dropped 5%.

However, overall enrollment in California public schools is sliding, and predicted by the Public Policy Institute of California to drop another 8% by the 2031-32 school year.
