The Humboldt County Sheriff Coroner’s Office has released the identity of the person who died in a plane crash on August 17 in Shelter Cove. The deceased has been identified as Brian Kenneth Mariette, 48, from Santa Rosa, California. Authorities have notified his next of kin.

An autopsy determined that the cause of death was drowning.

The Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office expressed condolences to Mariette’s family and friends. “The Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office extends our deepest condolences to the family and friends of Brian Mariette during this difficult time.”
