On October 9, 2025, the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office Marijuana Enforcement Team executed two search warrants targeting illegal cannabis cultivation in the Island Mountain area. The operation was conducted with support from the California Department of Fish and Wildlife and the Bureau of Land Management.

Authorities reported that the properties under investigation did not have the necessary county permits or state licenses required for commercial cannabis cultivation. During the operation, officials identified several water pollution violations on site. Each violation may result in fines of up to $20,000 per day.

Law enforcement officers eradicated around 280 cannabis plants and seized over 1,092 pounds of processed cannabis bud and shake. In addition, deputies confiscated 15 pounds of hash.

The assisting agencies are expected to file additional civil violations related to these findings. No arrests were made at the scene. The case will be submitted to the District Attorney’s Office for further review.

The Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office encourages anyone with information regarding this case or similar criminal activity to contact their office at (707) 445-7251 or use the Crime Tip line at (707) 268-2539.
