On January 5, 2025, a deputy from the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office encountered a vehicle with expired registration at the Samoa Dunes Recreation Area. Two adults were found near the vehicle. One of them, identified as Joshua Price, 44, from Eureka, initially gave a false name to the deputy.

Price asked to use the restroom but instead fled into nearby dunes. A check revealed that Price had an outstanding felony warrant related to a December 2024 charge for possession of a controlled substance while armed.

Deputies searched for Price and found some personal items but did not locate him immediately. Later, around noon, Price was seen walking on the beach near the Bay. When approached by law enforcement, he ran and trespassed onto private property at the Humboldt Bay Social Club.

Eventually, Price was found in a wooded area in Samoa. With assistance from a Game Warden, he was arrested without further incident and taken to the Humboldt County Correctional Facility for his warrant.

The public is encouraged to provide any information regarding this case or related activities by contacting the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office at (707) 445-7251 or their Crime Tip line at (707) 268-2539.
