On June 27, 2024, at approximately 3:27 p.m., Humboldt County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of a possible homicide attempt involving a firearm on the 900 block of Tish Tang Rd. in Hoopa.

The incident resulted in a life-threatening injury to a 17-year-old victim, who was subsequently flown out of the area for medical treatment. The victim is currently reported to be in stable condition. A 16-year-old suspect has been arrested and charged with attempted murder (PC 664/187(a)) and felon in possession of a firearm (PC 29800(a)(1)). The suspect is being held at the Humboldt County Juvenile Hall.

Authorities have confirmed that the victim and suspect are acquainted, and no other suspects are being sought at this time. Due to their ages, the identities of both individuals are being withheld.

The investigation remains ongoing.
