The Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office has announced an update to its Citizen RIMS platform, developed in collaboration with Sun Ridge Systems. This upgraded system aims to enhance public access to safety information and improve transparency in law enforcement operations.

Since the initial launch of Citizen RIMS in 2018, the Sheriff’s Office has focused on providing public access to crime and activity data. The new version expands these capabilities with advanced tools intended to increase community engagement and understanding.

A key feature of the updated platform is comprehensive Stop Data reporting, which complies with California’s Racial and Identity Profiling Act (RIPA) of 2015. This addition offers detailed documentation of officer-citizen interactions, reflecting the department’s commitment to transparent policing practices. Community members can now use dynamic incident mapping to observe neighborhood trends and patterns, while enhanced crime statistics offer user-friendly charts and visualizations for better understanding local safety conditions.

The platform also serves as a central resource for daily media releases, stolen vehicle reports, missing person cases, and recent arrest information. This consolidation provides residents streamlined access to essential public safety updates. Additionally, a security camera registration feature allows residents and business owners to voluntarily register their surveillance systems, contributing valuable resources for investigations across Humboldt County.

Future updates will introduce direct service request capabilities enabling community interaction with the Sheriff’s Office through the platform.

Sheriff Honsal stated: “The Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office is committed to earning our community’s trust by providing essential public safety information. The upgraded Citizen RIMS platform is another step toward delivering professional, transparent, and community-focused law enforcement in Humboldt County.”

Previous users should note that the web address has changed; the new platform can be accessed at HCSO.CitizenRIMS.com.

Residents are encouraged by the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office to explore these enhanced resources and maintain active connections with local law enforcement services through this improved digital platform.
