On March 18, Christian Murphy, a 28-year-old inmate from the Humboldt County Correctional Facility, walked away from his work crew in Eureka. Classified as a minimum security worker serving a county sentence, Murphy left during a work detail.

The Eureka Police Department (EPD) pursued and quickly apprehended Murphy. He was then transported back to the Humboldt County Correctional Facility and booked for escaping a county jail under Penal Code 4532(b)(1).

The Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office expressed gratitude towards the EPD for their assistance in resolving this incident.
