Jared Huffman, a member of the U.S. Congress representing California’s 2nd district since 2013, expressed concerns through his Twitter account regarding various issues, focusing particularly on actions taken by the Trump administration. Huffman, who replaced Lynn Woolsey and formerly served in the California State Assembly, shared his views on topics ranging from national parks to the separation of church and state, highlighting his positions on these matters.
On May 1, 2025, Huffman voiced his opinion about the Trump administration’s impact on public lands, stating that “The Trump admin is chaos in a nutshell — and America’s treasured public lands are taking a massive blow.” He further remarked on the administration’s attempts to privatize parks for energy exploitation, emphasizing the potential damage to national park operations and future generations.
Later on the same day, Huffman addressed the issue of religion and governance, asserting that the constitutionally mandated separation of church and state serves to protect against preferential treatment of any religion. He tweeted, “The separation of church and state was created to protect Americans from exactly this kind of religious favoritism.“
The following day, on May 2, 2025, Huffman continued his critical stance on the Trump administration. He commented on the influence of the Project 2025 initiative, indicating that “In his first 100 days, Donald Trump has taken the Project 2025 playbook and ran with it.” Huffman expressed the need for continued efforts to counter these actions.
At 59 years old, Huffman, originally from Independence, Missouri, now resides in San Rafael. He holds a BA from the University of California, Santa Barbara, and a JD from Boston College.
