Rep. Jared Huffman, who represents California’s 2nd district in the U.S. Congress, recently addressed constituents on social media about healthcare, wildfire response, and community health initiatives.
On March 13, 2026, Huffman criticized former President Donald Trump’s healthcare policies in a post: “Trump’s health care cuts are skyrocketing insurance premiums, stripping health coverage, and closing rural hospitals. I was glad to host a town hall and hear from people in our community. We won’t stop fighting to ensure every American has access to affordable health care.”
Later that day, Huffman highlighted the challenges posed by wildfires on California’s North Coast and celebrated new funding for workforce development: “Our communities in the North Coast are enduring wildfires year-round, and we need a bigger, fully trained firefighting workforce to combat this growing crisis. Jared Huffman has represented California’s 2nd District since 2013 after succeeding Lynn Woolsey. Before his tenure in Congress, he served in the California State Assembly from 2006 to 2012. Born in Independence, Missouri in 1964 and now residing in San Rafael, Huffman holds a BA from the University of California, Santa Barbara (1986), and a JD from Boston College (1990).
