Rep. Jared Huffman, a U.S. Congressman representing California’s 2nd district since 2013, recently highlighted several legislative and community initiatives on his social media account.
On September 15, 2025, Huffman addressed the issue of economic development for federally recognized tribes, stating: “Federally recognized tribes deserve equal access to economic development opportunities that come with putting their land into trust – but that process is broken. Our bipartisan bill led by @TomColeOK04 would help right this wrong and ensure success for our tribal partners.”
The following day, on September 16, Huffman discussed renewable energy efforts in a conversation with environmentalist Bill McKibben. He wrote: “Great to chat with @billmckibben about the importance of renewable energy in addressing the climate crisis, the challenges posed by fossil fuel interests, and more. I’m grateful for conversations like this as we work to accelerate the transition to a sustainable energy future.”
Later that same day, Huffman encouraged young coders in his district to participate in a national competition: “ATTENTION: all young coders in #CA02! You can still submit applications to the Congressional App Challenge by October 30th at 12 p.m. ET. Learn more and apply here: https://t.co/VzlAehTfs8”
Jared Huffman has represented California’s 2nd District since replacing Lynn Woolsey in Congress in 2013 and previously served in the California State Assembly from 2006 to 2012. Born in Independence, Missouri in 1964 and currently residing in San Rafael, Huffman holds degrees from the University of California, Santa Barbara (BA) and Boston College (JD).
