On May 26, a Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office deputy observed a suspicious vehicle during routine patrol in the Samoa Dunes Recreational Area. The occupants were identified as Rick Camy, 38, of Eureka, and Keara Loudon, 43, of Scotia. Camy was on formal probation for a prior drug-related conviction, while Loudon initially provided false identification and had an active arrest warrant.
A search of the vehicle was conducted under Camy’s probation terms and Loudon’s arrest warrant. The deputy discovered significant quantities of suspected methamphetamine and fentanyl. Both individuals were arrested and transported to the Humboldt County Correctional Facility.
Keara Loudon faces charges for providing false identification to a peace officer (PC 148.9), possession of a controlled substance (H&S 11350), and another count under H&S 11377. Rick Camy is charged with possession of a controlled substance with prior drug convictions (H&S 11395(b)(1)), two counts under H&S 11377(a) and H&S 11350, along with probation violation (PC 1203.2).
Following their arrests, the deputy obtained a search warrant for Loudon’s residence on Rio Dell Avenue in Rio Dell. This search uncovered additional narcotics, a digital scale, and drug paraphernalia leading to further charges against Loudon: possession of a controlled substance for sale (H&S 11351), another count under H&S 11378, and committing a felony while released on bail (PC 12022.1).
The Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office stated its commitment to proactive patrols and narcotics enforcement to enhance public safety and address illegal drug activity within communities.
