On Wednesday, March 5, former Arcata High School standout Merek Sears’ current college team, the UT Arlington Mavericks, lost 9-7 in their NCAA Division I baseball game against the Sam Houston Bearkats.

The game took place at Clay Gould Ballpark. This was their first matchup against the Bearkats this season.

The Mavericks’ next game is scheduled for Friday, March 7 at 6 p.m. at Lou St. Amant Field against Louisiana-Monroe Warhawks.
