On June 15, deputies from the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) executed a search warrant at a residence in McKinleyville following community complaints about suspected illegal drug activity. The operation, which took place on the 1900 block of Elmwood Place, resulted in the discovery of drug paraphernalia and a small amount of methamphetamine.

Three individuals were arrested during the operation. Brian Mitchell, aged 45, was charged with maintaining a place for unlawful drug activity and possession of a stolen vehicle. Michael Offutt, aged 32, and Dana Hawkins, aged 41, were both charged with being present where controlled substances are used.

The Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office emphasizes its commitment to Problem-Oriented Policing and addressing public safety concerns raised by the community. “We encourage residents to report issues related to problem properties in their neighborhoods, as community cooperation is essential to fostering safe and healthy environments.”
