Rep. Jared Huffman, a U.S. Congressman representing California’s 2nd district since 2013, has recently used his social media platform to address issues related to climate change, political power, and constituent support.
On September 18, 2025, Huffman criticized former President Donald Trump’s environmental policies and the response of the Republican Party: “Greenhouse gases are both endangering public health and fueling the climate crisis. Trump’s solution? Dismantling our systems that limit these emissions. His denial of science, truth, and the global crisis is out of control, and Republicans are doing less than nothing to stop”.
Later that same day, Huffman addressed concerns about free speech and presidential conduct: “This is authoritarianism 101. Trump is abusing his power to intimidate and silence critics, and Jimmy Kimmel is just his latest target. I’m signing onto @yassaminansari’s resolution to reaffirm the right to free speech and denounce what’s happening.”
On September 19, 2025, Huffman referenced ongoing wildfires affecting his district in Northern California: “I’m hearing from #CA02 constituents like Anca who are dealing with the impacts of wildfires up and down the North Coast. My team and I are working hard to assist you all in any way we can. To contact us for help with a federal agency, please visit here: https://t.co/U85ZaBRsne https://t.co/cS6JLuAOrW”.
Huffman has served as representative for California’s 2nd District since replacing Lynn Woolsey in 2013. Prior to Congress, he was a member of the California State Assembly from 2006 to 2012. Born in Independence, Missouri in 1964, Huffman currently resides in San Rafael. He holds a BA from the University of California, Santa Barbara (1986) and a JD from Boston College (1990).
