Rep. Jared Huffman, U.S. Congressman representing California’s 2nd district since 2013, recently used his Twitter account to address rising costs for American families and to encourage voter participation ahead of California’s upcoming primary election.

On May 26, Huffman criticized former President Donald Trump’s spending priorities, stating, “You’re paying more for groceries. More for gas. More for healthcare. All while Trump is spending your money on a gaudy 250-foot arch by Arlington Cemetery, a UFC cage on the South Lawn, and tearing down the East Wing to build his ballroom. This needs to stop.”

Ahead of California’s Primary Election scheduled for next Tuesday, Huffman posted on May 28, “California’s Primary Election is next Tuesday – now’s the time to make your plan to submit your ballot at a drop box, visit an early voting site, or vote on election day. Information on your voting options can be found here at the CA Secretary of State’s website:”

In a follow-up tweet posted moments later on May 28, he added, “Not sure if you’re registered to vote in Tuesday’s election? You can check your status at https://t.co/iI5owVks6g. If you aren’t yet, no worries – same-day registration will be available at polling locations beginning at 7am until 8pm on June 2.”

Jared Huffman has represented California’s 2nd District in Congress since succeeding Lynn Woolsey in 2013 and previously served in the California State Assembly from 2006 to 2012. Born in Independence, Missouri in 1964 and currently residing in San Rafael, Huffman holds a BA from the University of California, Santa Barbara (1986) and a JD from Boston College (1990).
