Rep. Jared Huffman, who represents California’s 2nd district in the U.S. Congress, used his social media platform on October 15, 2025, to criticize Republican health care proposals and address ongoing political disputes in Washington.

In a post from October 15, Huffman stated, “The health care premium increases Republicans want to force down our throats will be catastrophic. In my district, we’ll see over 400% increases – and next door in Rep. LaMalfa’s district, we’ll see over 500%. Republicans need to reverse course and help us save health care.”

Later that day, Huffman addressed a separate issue regarding Representative-elect Grijalva and the release of the Epstein files. On October 15 he wrote, “Did you know that Representative-elect Grijalva is the last vote we need for our petition to release the Epstein files? She should have been sworn in WEEKS ago, but Speaker Johnson is refusing to let her. Last night I marched to his office to demand he swear her in. What’s he”

In a third post on October 15, Huffman commented on the ongoing government shutdown: “It’s week 3 of the Trump shutdown, and Republicans are still nowhere to be found. I’m back in Washington with @housedemocrats, standing firm to reopen the government and save health care.”

Huffman has served as a member of Congress since 2013 after succeeding Lynn Woolsey. Before his tenure in Congress, he was a member of the California State Assembly from 2006 to 2012. Born in Independence, Missouri in 1964 and currently residing in San Rafael, Huffman holds a BA from the University of California, Santa Barbara and a JD from Boston College.
