Rep. Jared Huffman, who represents California’s 2nd district in the U.S. Congress, has publicly criticized recent actions by the Trump administration regarding federal employee religious freedoms and cuts to veterans’ services.
On August 8, 2025, Huffman posted on his official Twitter account: “The Trump admin’s recent OPM guidance inherently undermines church-state separation and attacks religious freedom for federal employees.
@RepRaskin and I sent a letter to @USOPM Director Kupor opposing these egregious efforts and demanding clarity in the new policies.” (August 8, 2025)
Later that day, Huffman addressed concerns about veterans’ services in a two-part message. In the first post he stated: (1/2) Our VA’s play a vital role in our communities to serve our veterans. Through mass layoffs and funding cuts, these important services have been decimated by the Trump admin.

He followed with: (2/2) These impacts are now compounded as the VA is unable to attract doctors and nurses. The gutting of the VA is a disaster for public health and a disservice to our military veterans and their families. https://t.co/nUK3wBTf8N (August 8, 2025)
