Jared Huffman, a U.S. Congressman representing California’s 2nd district since 2013, has voiced his concerns over several actions by Republicans in Congress through a series of tweets. The tweets highlight issues related to public lands, healthcare funding, and wildfire mitigation efforts.

On February 12, 2025, Rep. Huffman expressed concern about the actions of "Extreme Republicans in Congress" who are allegedly targeting America’s public lands by delaying essential wildfire mitigation efforts and affecting funding for tribal communities. He mentioned consulting with the Executive Director Gibbs of @ColoradoDNR regarding these impacts. "Extreme Republicans in Congress are targeting the heart and soul of America's public lands – delaying wildfire mitigation efforts, funding for tribal communities, and more."

On February 13, 2025, he criticized the Republican budget plan which proposes tax breaks for billionaires at the cost of slashing Medicaid funding. Huffman described this approach as "downright inhumane," pledging to continue his opposition against such measures that could strip millions of Americans from healthcare access. "Republicans’ budget is out, and guess how they’re planning to pay for those massive tax breaks for their billionaire buddies: by slashing Medicaid funding, stripping health care from millions of Americans."

Later on February 13, 2025, Huffman also addressed concerns regarding former President Trump's freeze on wildfire mitigation efforts. He emphasized the potential risks this poses to community safety and preparedness against wildfires and announced collaboration with fellow representatives Scott Peters and Joe Neguse to demand a resumption of these crucial prevention activities."Trump's freeze on wildfire mitigation efforts will have grave consequences on our communities."
