Jared Huffman, a U.S. Congressman representing California’s 2nd district since 2013, has expressed concerns over recent developments involving Donald Trump and Elon Musk. Huffman has been vocal about his disapproval of certain actions and policies he attributes to these figures, sharing his perspectives on social media.
On March 10, 2025, Huffman tweeted about potential cuts to an agency crucial for emergency weather services and air traffic safety. He stated, "Trump and Musk are slashing this already understaffed agency that all of us depend on, whether we realize it or not. The result? Emergency weather services will disappear overnight, air traffic safety will get even worse, and weather forecasts won’t be free."
The following day, March 11, 2025, Huffman criticized the House Republicans' budget plan in another tweet. He claimed that the budget allows Trump and Musk to continue what he describes as illegal schemes at the expense of vulnerable groups. Huffman tweeted: "House Republicans’ budget writes Trump and Musk a blank check to keep up their illegal schemes – throwing veterans, seniors, and families under the bus in the process. Their bill ensures devastating cuts and bends to the whims of an out-of-control administration. I’m voting NO."
Later on March 11th, Huffman further addressed economic concerns related to tariffs imposed by Trump's administration in a subsequent tweet: "House Republicans' funding bill blocks Congress from having even just the option to end tariffs… …at a time when Trump’s chaotic stream of pointless tariffs is tanking the economy. Another reason I'm voting NO."
