Two arrested after reported vehicle burglary in Eureka

Humboldt County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of suspicious activity in Eureka early on August 26. At approximately 4:56 a.m., law enforcement was dispatched to the area of Harrison Avenue and Munson Street following reports of a male and female loitering and the sound of breaking glass.

Upon arrival, deputies observed two individuals matching witness descriptions walking quickly on Myrtle Avenue at Dean Street. The pair were identified as Christopher Michael Bessant, age 34, and Summer Regina Kenyon, age 34, both residents of Eureka.

“After further investigation, which included witness statements and video surveillance footage both Bessant and Kenyon were placed under arrest.”

Bessant faces charges including second degree burglary (P.C. 460(B)), conspiracy to commit a crime (P.C. 182(A)(1)), possession of burglary tools (P.C. 466), possession of a controlled substance (H.S. 11377(A)), and possession of drug paraphernalia (H.S. 11364(A)). Kenyon was arrested for second degree burglary (P.C. 460(B)), conspiracy to commit a crime (P.C. 182(A)), and possession of drug paraphernalia (H.S. 11364(A)).

Both suspects were transported to the Humboldt County Correctional Facility where they were booked on the listed charges.
