The Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office has expressed gratitude to various agencies for their swift response in an operation following a tragic incident near Hoopa, CA. The incident involved a juvenile female being swept away by the river current, prompting two individuals to jump in for a rescue attempt.
Upon arrival at the Tish Tang Campground, deputies found the female on a rock across the river and another person downstream clinging to a tree. Thanks to a civilian boat, both individuals were brought to safety and taken to a local hospital for treatment.
As the search for 19-year-old Joseph Viveiros Dawson continued, additional resources including the Sheriff’s Office’s jet boat and a Hoopa Valley Tribal Police Department boat were deployed. Despite extensive efforts involving multiple agencies and the use of underwater technology, the search for Viveiros Dawson unfortunately remained unsuccessful.
The Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office highlighted the collaborative efforts of various organizations in the operation, extending their thanks to all involved. Additionally, the Sheriff’s Office encouraged the public to stay informed by subscribing to news alerts on their website.
