The Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office Marijuana Enforcement Team (MET) recently conducted a search warrant operation in various areas of the county to investigate illegal indoor cannabis cultivation. According to a statement released on March 29, 2024, the California Fish and Wildlife and Department of Cannabis Control assisted in the service of the warrant.
"During the service of the warrant(s), deputies eradicated approximately 1366 growing cannabis plants. Deputies seized and destroyed over 120 pounds of cannabis bud," a spokesperson for the Sheriff’s Office reported. Additionally, deputies discovered two tampered PG&E meters, leading to confirmation that the residences were stealing power.
The properties under investigation were found to be operating without the necessary county permit and state license for commercial cannabis cultivation. As a result, "Additional violations with civil fines are expected to be filed by the assisting agencies," the statement noted.
Despite the significant findings, no arrests were made during the operation. The case will now be forwarded to the District Attorney’s Office for further review and potential legal action.
