Attempted Burglary Arrest in Humboldt County Leads to Arrest of James Kelly

In the early hours of March 31, 2024, Humboldt County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of an interrupted burglary in the 500 block of Pacific Ct. in Trinidad. They found a homeowner detaining the suspect in the front yard of the residence.

The suspect was identified as 65-year-old James Kelly. The homeowners informed deputies that they were alerted by their dogs barking and the sound of their sliding glass door being opened before discovering Kelly attempting to exit their property.

Following an investigation, James Kelly was arrested by deputies and taken to the Humboldt County Correctional Facility. He was booked on the charge of attempted burglary (PC664/460(a)).
