On December 18, a traffic stop in Loleta led to the arrest of Ryan Hill, age 39, from Ferndale. A Humboldt County Sheriff's deputy stopped Hill's vehicle on Singley Hill Road after confirming an outstanding warrant for his arrest.

Upon contacting Hill, the deputy arrested him and searched his vehicle under the terms of his probation. These terms prohibit firearms, weapons, ammunition, and drug-related activities. The search revealed methamphetamine in a clear baggie, drug paraphernalia, a large bag of marijuana, a loaded starter pistol, and a lock picking kit.

The deputies tested and measured the substances found: 15 grams of methamphetamine and 35.4 ounces of marijuana.

Hill was taken to the Humboldt County Correctional Facility where he was booked on several charges: "Possess a controlled substance—HS 11377(a)," "Possess marijuana over 28.5g—HS 11357(b)," and "Probation violation: rearrest/revoke—1203.2(a)."

The Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office encourages anyone with information about this case or related criminal activity to call (707) 445-7251 or the Crime Tip line at (707) 268-2539.
