On January 7, 2025, at approximately 10:30 p.m., the Bear River Police Department sought assistance from deputies regarding an individual causing a disturbance and refusing to leave their premises. The suspect was reportedly armed.
Upon arrival, deputies coordinated with the Bear River Police Department Chief and hotel security staff. They were informed that the individual had ignored a lawful order to vacate and claimed to possess a firearm. Deputies and Tribal Police collaborated to locate the suspect in the hotel hallway where he continued his disruptive behavior by banging on doors.
The subject initially resisted commands and attempted communication through a closed door. As he reached for his pocket while yelling, deputies instructed him to stop. They then restrained him against the wall, taking him into custody without further issues. No weapon was found on him.
The man identified himself as "Bradford Harris," but authorities later confirmed his real identity as Brad Nutley, aged 24, from McKinleyville. Nutley faces charges of trespassing under PC 602(o) and providing false identification under PC 148.9(a). He was booked into Humboldt County Correctional Facility.
Authorities urge anyone with information related to this incident or similar activities to contact the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office at (707) 445-7251 or use their Crime Tip line at (707) 268-2539.
