On January 9, a Humboldt County Sheriff's deputy responded to a report of an unwanted individual refusing to leave the Green Diamond property on Bay Street in Samoa. The deputy found and detained Sara Hoyos, 43, from Eureka, near the main gate.
Before the deputy's arrival, Hoyos had been drinking from a handwashing station and tried to open an employee's vehicle door. Observations noted her rapid and inconsistent speech, random outbursts, dilated pupils, nonsensical statements, and inability to stay still. She claimed someone she knew was inside a Green Diamond employee's vehicle, though it was empty.
Hoyos was arrested for public intoxication. A search revealed methamphetamine in two of her pockets. She was taken to the Humboldt County Correctional Facility with charges of public intoxication under PC 647(f) and possession of methamphetamine under HS 11377(a).
The Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office expressed gratitude to security personnel who reported the incident and encouraged community members to contact law enforcement when observing suspicious activities.
