Garberville woman arrested for meth possession following routine patrol

On January 28, 2025, Humboldt County Sheriff's deputies were patrolling Redwood Drive in Garberville when they noticed a vehicle towing a travel trailer parked on the roadside. The vehicle appeared to be disabled, prompting the deputies to check if assistance was needed.

Inside the vehicle, Charrise Burns, a 44-year-old resident of Fort Bragg, was found sitting in the passenger seat. She informed the deputies that her husband had gone to town to find water for their overheated vehicle. Upon checking with the Emergency Communications Center, it was confirmed that Burns had an outstanding warrant from the Mendocino County Sheriff's Office for probation violation (PC 1203.2).

Following this discovery, Burns was placed under arrest and searched. During this process, she admitted to possessing drug paraphernalia. Deputies found a methamphetamine pipe inside the vehicle along with five additional glass tubes containing methamphetamine residue and a plastic bag with methamphetamine wrapped in tin foil.

Burns was transported to the Humboldt County Correctional Facility where she was booked on charges of possession of drug paraphernalia (H&S 11364) and possession of a controlled substance (H&S 11377). The methamphetamine seized weighed approximately 1.446 grams.

The Sheriff's Office has stated that deputies will continue active patrols in both Garberville and Redway to monitor suspicious activity. They encourage anyone with information related to criminal activity to contact them at (707) 445-7251 or through their Crime Tip line at (707) 268-2539.
