Arrest in Eureka leads to discovery of meth and fentanyl

On January 18, 2025, a deputy from the Humboldt County Sheriff's Office observed Robert Sears, aged 58, in Eureka. Sears was known to have a felony warrant for his arrest and was on formal probation for selling or transporting drugs under HS 11352(a).

The deputy confirmed Sears' active warrant status with the Emergency Communications Center before approaching him. Following probation terms and incident to arrest, a search of Sears revealed a silver metal container with 90.82 grams of methamphetamine, a glass pipe with methamphetamine residue, a plastic container with 8.8 grams of fentanyl, and a plastic baggie containing 0.08 grams of fentanyl.

Sears was subsequently taken to the Humboldt County Correctional Facility. He faces charges including possession of methamphetamine (H&S 11377(a)), possession of fentanyl (H&S 11350(a)), possession of drug paraphernalia (H&S 11364), and violation of probation (PC 1203.2).
