The Humboldt County Sheriff's Office is organizing a community event named Public Safety Sunday in collaboration with McKinleyville High School, McKinleyville Ace Hardware, and the McKinleyville Chamber of Commerce. This event offers residents an opportunity to interact with local public safety agencies, observe safety demonstrations, and learn how they can contribute to community safety.

Public Safety Sunday is scheduled for April 13 from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. at McKinleyville High School located at 1300 Murray Road. The event will feature displays and emergency equipment from various agencies along with ongoing safety demonstrations throughout the afternoon. Attendees can explore a Mobile Command Van, learn about helicopters, meet K9 Deputies, and view inside emergency vehicles.

This family-oriented event includes activities suitable for both children and adults; however, pets are not permitted on the premises.

Residents are encouraged to participate by gathering their families and inviting friends to join them on April 13 at McKinleyville High School.

The organizers extend special thanks to participating agencies and sponsors including Arcata Fire District, Arcata Police Department, Mad River Ambulance, CAL FIRE, Cal OES, California Highway Patrol, Eureka Police Department, Ferndale Police Department, Humboldt County Citizen’s Emergency Response Team, Rio Dell Police Department, Shelter Cove Fire Department among others such as Edward Jones (Sara Newblom), Mad River Rotary and more.
