The Humboldt County Sheriff's Office, collaborating with McKinleyville High School, McKinleyville Ace Hardware, and the McKinleyville Chamber of Commerce, will host Public Safety Sunday. The event provides an occasion for the community to interact with local public safety agencies such as law enforcement, fire, EMS, and OES representatives.

Residents are invited to meet the professionals who ensure community safety, witness live safety demonstrations, view equipment displays, and discover how to contribute to community preparedness and safety.

Public Safety Sunday is scheduled for Sunday, April 13, 2025, from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at McKinleyville High School, located at 1300 Murray Road.

According to the Humboldt County Sheriff's Office, "This exciting event is designed to engage both kids and adult learners, offering a unique opportunity to explore the world of public safety up close." Participants can experience interactive displays and engage with emergency equipment from various local public safety agencies. The schedule includes live demonstrations of lifesaving techniques, specialized tools, and the efforts of first responders, featuring the opportunity to explore a Mobile Command Van, learn about helicopters, and meet K9 Deputies.

Pets are requested to remain at home, notwithstanding their status as family members.

Attendees are encouraged to bring families and friends for an educational afternoon of learning and community engagement focused on safety and preparedness.
