Jared Huffman, currently serving in the U.S. Congress and representing California’s 2nd District, has taken to social media to express concerns over actions taken by the Trump administration. Representative Huffman, who succeeded Lynn Woolsey in Congress in 2013, highlighted specific policies and their impacts in a series of tweets in early April 2025.
On April 7, 2025, Huffman focused on the economic repercussions of the Trump administration’s tariff policies, stating, "Trump's tariffs have already caused a Stock Market drop exceeding 20% – marking the worst S&P start to a presidency in modern history. This administration is tanking our economy. We need to put a stop to this madness."
Later that same day, Huffman brought attention to staffing changes within a federal department, remarking, "Trump is illegally firing 25% of the HHS workforce – who we rely on every day for safe medical products, essential health care services, and our overall public health. All of that is being compromised just so Trump and his billionaire friends can pay fewer taxes... it's insane."
Continuing his critique of the administration's policies, on April 8, 2025, Huffman pointed out another concerning decision, "Next up to bat in Trump's unceremonious slashing: the FEMA BRIC program that prepares us for disaster response and recovery. It's unsurprising, but incredibly disappointing, that Trump is stripping Californians of lifesaving funding."
